The cluster sits in the Hyblaean uplands, a limestone plateau of dry valleys and low canyon country rather than high mountains. The Anapo valley and the gorges around Palazzolo Acreide are the main landscape feature within reach, and the area is close to the Cavagrande del Cassibile oriented reserve. Palazzolo Acreide itself has a substantial historic centre and is part of the late Baroque Val di Noto UNESCO listing. Syracuse is the nearest larger city with full services, rail connections and major archaeological sites.
