The cluster is in the plain between Naples and the inland Campania hills, with Mount Vesuvius visible to the west and the first ridges of the Apennine foothills toward the east. The area is crossed by the Clanio-Regi Lagni drainage plain and by intensive farmland with orchards, hazelnut groves and market gardening. The nearest larger town is Nola, which has a substantial historic centre, services and rail links. Pomigliano d'Arco, Acerra and the wider Naples plain form a belt of industry, warehouses and busy roads within daily range.
