The Madonie mountains rise immediately around Caltavuturo. The Imera Settentrionale valley is nearby, and the Tyrrhenian coast is about 20 km away in a straight line but not part of the immediate landscape. The Parco delle Madonie lies within the area, with limestone massifs, wooded slopes and inland upland terrain. The nearest ski lifts are at Piano Battaglia in the Madonie, roughly 30–40 minutes by road depending on road conditions. The nearest larger town is Termini Imerese on the coast, while Cefalù is the best-known town in the wider area with services and rail connections, but both are outside the immediate upland setting. The area is known for mountain villages, pasture, woodland and Madonie inland landscapes.
