The area sits in the inland hills between the Pescara valley and the first ridges of the Abruzzo Apennines. The Gran Sasso massif is the main mountain presence to the north-west, visible from parts of this belt of Pescara province. The Tirino valley and the edge of the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park are within roughly this inland zone, though the park boundary is not at the village itself. The nearest larger town is Pescara on the Adriatic, which provides the main rail station, hospital, airport and full city services. This part of Abruzzo is known for olive groves, mixed farming and hill villages between the coast and the mountains.
