This is the Salento peninsula, with a flat to gently undulating limestone landscape of olive groves and fields. The Ionian coast is about 4 km away, with the shoreline around Torre Suda and further toward Gallipoli marked by low rocky stretches and sandy beaches in places. The regional park of Isola di Sant’Andrea e Litorale di Punta Pizzo lies nearby on the coast south of Gallipoli. Gallipoli is the nearest town of size, with a historic old town on an island-linked promontory, a fishing port and full services. The area is known for Salento olive country, summer seaside tourism and nearby coastal towers.
